This document is intended to provide the reader with the required information to restore the UC database after the major windows 10 update.

 

 

Phone-Link – UC Database Blank after Windows 10 Update

 

 

Description:

After this major windows update your UC database is blank. This means that all of the system profile data has been reset.

 

Explanation: The windows update will have removed the database and when the UCServer restarts it will recreate a clean database thus presenting an empty configuration.

 

Resolution:

In the case that the update renders the database clean, it will have made a copy to C:windows.oldwindowssystem32configsystemprofile

The file names will be UCServer.mdf and UCServer_log.ldf.

 

To recover the database 

 

1) Login as administrator/local admin

 

2) Stop all UC services i.e UCServer and UCTelephony 

 

3) In windows explorer, browse to C:windowssystem32Config – you will be prompted to “Click Continue to permanently get access to this folder” Click continue

 

 
4) Click on folder “systemprofile” and do the same.
 

5) Copy the files from C:windows.oldwindowssystem32configsystemprofile to C:windowssystem32Configsystemprofile  when prompted confirm overwrite the files.

 

6) Restart UCServer and confirm that your site and configuration has been restored.

 

7) Restart your PC and make sure that the system restarts as expected and your UCServer is working as expected.
