iPECS UCP – How to connect a 3rd party SIP phone using the licence

On a UCP you will need a Third Party SIP Extension license and a system port for each 3rd party SIP phone.

Once you have applied the license, it can be applied against a variety of SIP handsets of your choice.

We don’t test 3rd party SIP handsets with our systems, you can get definitive settings from the providers of these devices.

To set up in the UCP, you should go to PGM 443 – Set a username, password and desired station number to be used on the device.

The desired station number must be an available, unused port on the system and have a valid entry in PGM 105. Ensure it is not already used in PGM 103 first.

PGM 211 – This allows you to define specific settings for your device, some are listed in the SIP Phone Type drop down, if your device is not defined, select 3rd SIP. You will then need to check with the provider of the device relating to specific settings in the list as they may need to be amended to suit.

Always ensure 407 Authentication is kept ON if this is turned off you are able to connect to the system without a password using the device ID which could cause a security risk.
