This problem can occur where an invite is received by the system on UDP 5060 from an unknown source. The system tries to setup a call and gets as far as ringing.

Often, staff come into an office and hear phones ringing with strange CLI on handset screens.

 

Resolution

IPLDK 20

Ensure the router will only forward requests on 5060 from the source IP address of the SIP provider, this will ensure the router discards requests from any other source. This setting is available on most business class routers in the NAT setup section. This type of port forward is recommended in all instances for added security.

 

IPECS

PGM 133 – for all VoIP channels – set Invite Acceptance to “From Domain Only”. This will then discard invites from all other sources.
