Athena HS-D1 – Troubleshooting Tips

Below is a list of checks that can be completed if you are having issues with the Athena HS-D1 headset and the HS-BC3 cable.

No Audio / Dial Tone

  • Make sure that the E-LG EHS adaptor is set to “KTS” rather than “SIP”. The switch can be found on the back of the adaptor.
  • Check what option is set on the side of the Athena Headset Base, you will find a switch with 1 and 2 (this is known as the compatibility switch). Have the engineer switch between both settings until they hear audio. If no audio can be heard check how they have the cables setup.
  • Make sure that the headset is not muted. The mute icon can be seen on the headset base.
  • Check the telephone cord between the Athena Headset Base and handset.

No EHS Functionality

  • Make sure that the HS-BC3 cable has been plugged in correctly between the E-LG EHS Adaptor and the Athena Headset Base. Check if the AUX end of the cable is plugged into the headset base and not into the E-LG EHS Adaptor. The AUX end can be identified by the white band around the HS-BC3 cable, please refer to the image on the first page.
  • Check if the E-LG EHS Adaptor has been plugged in correctly. The ribbon cable that you use to connect the stand and the phone together will need to be pushed in. Make sure that the pink stripe on the ribbon cable is pointed upwards.
  • Check the LED that can be viewed on the E-LG EHS Adaptor, if the LED is RED you will not have EHS functionality. If this is the case, check how the cables have been plugged in along with the firmware of the handset.

 Headset Not Working

  • Check that the headset is charging when placed on the dock, to check this look for the “Charging LED” that can be viewed on the stand.
  • Restart the Athena Headset Base with the headset placed on the dock. Once restarted check to see if you can go on and off hook.
  • Check that headsets have not been switched between bases.

Audio Coming Through Phone Rather Than Headset

  • Check that headset mode is enabled on the LIP handset. This can be done by toggling the button on the phone.
  • For LDP handsets you will need to enter Trans/PGM > 19 > 1 > Hold/Save. From the PBX in PGM 112 Terminal Attributes make sure headset ring and speaker/headset options are set as speaker.
